Brazilian trumpet player based in Switzerland.

About

Erick Venditte (born in 2002, São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian trumpet player currently based in Bern, Switzerland. From an early age, he was immersed in a rich musical environment, growing up with a father who played trumpet and a mother who was a pianist. His childhood was filled with concerts and performances by various classical ensembles, which greatly influenced his artistic development.

At the age of three, Erick’s curiosity for music became apparent when he began attempting to make sounds with his father’s trumpet mouthpiece. This early interest led his father to start giving him his first trumpet lessons. By the age of six, Erick began formal studies with Marcos Motta, the current trumpet player of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra. At 12, he was accepted into the São Paulo State School of Music, where he studied for five years under the guidance of renowned trumpet teachers Adenilson Telles and Edmilson Bosco.

Between 2018 and 2019, Erick won three of Brazil’s most prestigious music competitions: the Prêmio Eleazar de Carvalho at the Campos do Jordão Winter Festival, the Prelúdio Competition on TV Cultura, and the Prêmio Ernani de Almeida Machado, organized by the Machado Meyer law firm. Before embarking on his international career, Erick spent an additional two years studying intensively with Marcos Motta, focusing on perfecting his technical skills in order to free his mind to focus on musical expression.

In 2020, Erick moved to Switzerland to continue his studies at the Hochschule der Künste Bern under the guidance of Giuliano Sommerhalder. Over the course of five years, he further honed his musicianship, developing a deep understanding of the different periods of music, both as a soloist and as an orchestral musician.

He currently serves as the principal trumpet of the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra (TOBS) and has held positions as trumpet academist with both the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra. He regularly collaborates with other prestigious Swiss orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR) in Geneva and the Bern Symphony Orchestra (BSO).
